"I cannot recommend the Baquedano Languague School highly enough. First and foremost, the family Guzman is incredibly welcome and charming. Patricio has a great sense of humor and is a kind and dedicated teacher.

His wife, Gedra an his two adult sons are some of the nicest people I met in Chile, and Gedra's all natural cooking some of the best food I tested. Second, the location is amazing, perched atop a cliff overlooking the river Coyhaique with stunning views of the surrounding snow capped mountains and amazing sunrises, with an extensive trail system starting right from the backyard.

Coyhaique itself is charming and unspoiled, there are relatively few english speakers, and there is easy access to incredible national parks nearby. Third an finaly, the reason I came to the baquedano School to improve my Spanish.

Although I spent three to four hours a day in private spanish lesson with Patricio, it was so pleasant an unpretentius it felt more like strctured conversation. Additionally, every meal was spent in conversations with the Guzman family or other dinner guests.

I am so grateful to have met this amazing family and for the memorable time I spant in Coyhaique."

“We arrived in Latin America with no Spanish what so ever and were finding travelling a very frustrating and difficult experience.

Consequently we decided to spend time studying Spanish and picked Patricio´s school from a recommendation in the South American Handbook.

The course is hard work, but also great fun as Patricio is an enthusiastic and interesting teacher.

The classes are intimate and informal with lots of breaks for coffee and discussion.

The surrounding countryside is superb green hills, wild open plains and dramatic coast nearby”.

"I am a student of Ecology from Britain and have just completed a week's language course with Patricio. I came to the course with a basic knowledge of Spanish gained through travels in Perú and more recently Chile .

One of the benefits is Patricio´s flexibility. He has many tools at his disposal from a hefty pure grammar book through many other exercise books to simple speaking about useful, or just interesting subjects, pointing out mistakesa and being able to translate English or improve your sentence construction as you go alongable to converse with local people and learn more about them and the areas in which they live.

If you are looking to improve your Spanish in a friendly and home like atmosphere, not just a language school, then we highly recommend Señor Guzmán's Baquedano International Language School"

Simon Wilward-England

“The course is very intensive. If you come her just to rest, yoiu are certainly at the wrong place, but the goal is to improve your Spanish.

There is grammar in the course which is unfortunately very necessary to speak Spanish well. Every day I had lessons from Patricio Guzmán and I had to do self study for several hours . Besides the class books you practise with Patricio, listen to cassettes and there are also a few books with practical Spanish.

After two weeks my Spanish had obviously improved. The course exists of speaking, listening, reading and writing, and the three keywords are: practice, practice and practice”.
The school is ideally situated.

A good apartment beyond the house with a great view of the mountains. A cool climate and a pleasant city, the center is a 15 minute walk.

I also learnt a lot about South America and especially the Chilean culture”.

Roelof Jan Sol-Holland

"Having just spent two weeks learning Spanish at the Baquedano Language School, I can attest to its effectiveness.

Previously I could, with difficulty, find out when the bus was leaving. Now I can ask which route it will take, where it will stop for lunch and what time it will arrive at its destination.

The simple convenience of being able to read a timetable, or ask for directions, makes the initial time and effort worthwhile."

John Povili - Arizona – USA

"Ben and I had lessons with Patricio when we first moved to Chile.

We really needed to learn the language and Patricio was fantastic. Within a week or so we’d learnt a ton of new things and managed to correct many old mistakes. Pat is lots of fun to learn with and gave us a wide range of material to work with. As well as the language, we also learnt a lot about the culture and history of the region.

If you want to have fun learning Spanish where you don’t feel like you’re stuck in a classroom, we highly recommend Patricio".

“I am 25 years old, a medical student and travellerfrom the United States .

I lived with and took classes from Patricio and his family for one week. During this time my understanding of both the spoken and written language increased significantly. I received Spanish lessons, broke many bad habits that I had picked up during my travels, and most important I was able to practice Spanish.

With Patricio you get the benefit of learning from a professional teacher with years of experience teaching both Spansih and English. He really understands the learning  Process.

Perhaps the greatest aspect of Patricio's school is his wonderful family. His wife Gedra and Sons Fernando and Gerardo. I cannot express how thankful I am for their hospitality and their encouragement. They were an important part of my learning process and in making my stay in Coyhaique incredibly enjoyable”

I encourage anyone intereted in learning Spanish to study at the Baquedano 20 School of language

Joe Donroe-USA.

“After our stay in Coyhaique we were in Argentina for two weeks. The course with you was extremely useful. (we managed to speak and understand almost everything), but above all we thank you and your wife for the warm and kind atmosphere, for this “family experience” that introduced us to Chilean Patagonia”
